The ultimate single track experience was everything I imagined it would be. It was just as hard as I expected, and just as fun. The single track left me grinning ear to ear (even when I was tired), the climbing had me grimacing wishing for an easier gear, and the experience is unforgettable. I’ve never done a stage race before, let alone rode my bike 7 days in a row! I was challenged in every way possible, which is what I wanted out of my week. My equipment choice was perfect and dialed daily. The old lush forests on the Sunshine Coast were perfectly loamy and slippery.
I stood on the 2nd step of the podium every day, and ultimately finished the week 31 minutes behind Katerina.
While I wish I could climb faster and stronger, I had to remind myself midweek that last year I was hardly riding my mountain bike- let alone climbing any hills. I’m grateful my body held up all week long, and my hips freakin’ CRUSHED IT!
Big thank you to @maxxisbike for helping to get me to the race and making my dreams come true! I’ll be back next year for the #bestweekonabike

Day 3- Cumberland:
Having THE TIME OF MY LIFE riding BC single track with the @bcbikerace. @timjohnsoncx and @stephenhyde provided me with some comic relief half way through the day today. Lots of pedaling, lots of roots, true BC single track! We’re taking the Little River ferry to Powell River today, where we camp on the beach!

I might be gearing up for BCBR, but when the week is over, it’s all eyes on cross (after rest, vacation and summer 🤣).
Big thanks to @lcn_pdx for working with me on this video. We’ll be working on some content throughout the year. I can’t wait to see what we come up with!

W A R N I NG💥
Drool worthy bike 👆🏼 The @bcbikerace build is officially COMPLETE! I’ll be racing aboard the new @pivot_cyclesusa Mach4 SL, which I’ve now had a good couple of weeks to get familiar with, including a race weekend with @racecascadia at Raging Tiger! This is my first time in 4 years on a 29’er, and Pivot nailed the geometry on this XS frame. Truth be told I was a bit nervous for the bigger wheels, but all it took was less then 10 minutes on the bike for me to know everything was going to be allllll right! This bike rips, and it’s going to crush 7 days of BC single track.
I’ve been thinking about my build for awhile. I knew I wanted something light for the longish days, but also sturdy, because anything can happen on BC terrain over 7 days.
So here’s my final BCBR set up:
Frame by Pivot.
@stansnotubes Crest CB7 wheels with @maxxisbike tires mounted up (Ardent Race front and Ikon rear - not the current set up but I’ll swap come race week). A custom made 110mm @Fox 34 Stepcast fork to allow me to get rowdy on the downhills, but still climb like a goat on the ups.
@raceface takes care of the cockpit, the dropper to allow extra space to move around on the wild BC descents, and that extra fancy Next SL crank with a 32T ring mounted up.
Drivetrain bits supplied by @shimanomtb with XTR shifting and braking power, and all the gears in the back with an 11-46 cassette.
@sdgcomponents new radar saddle - 👌🏻 I’ll do a full blog post with more details and pictures later, but for now...here it is!! #pivotcycles #maxxistires #onlystans #rideshimano #ridebikeshavefun #bcbr2019
I still have mud seeping out of my eyeballs and Hydroflasks I don’t know what to do with from Sunday’s final stage of Raging Tiger. I had such a blast racing up and down new terrain (to me). It was the perfect mental and physical prep for @bcbikerace in 1.5 weeks. I tested tires, food, gear selection and was reminded how hard racing mountain bikes is (it’s been since 2016)! Big thanks to @racecascadia and @nwmtbseries88 for putting on such a fun weekend and the equal pay!
I’ve been dialing in my new @pivot_cyclesusa Mach 4 SL , and now that I’ve officially raced it .... 🤤 more on that later 👊🏼

Ever since I first heard of the @bcbikerace it’s been on my race bucket list. I came close in 2017 to registering, until I remembered being 5 months PO from hip surgery wasn’t the best prep, so I put it off until 2019. Thanks to @maxxisbike my dreams of this race have become a reality!!! Next month I will line up for my first BCBR and I’m ecstatic! Last week I asked for a big prep week to mimic the race week, and today was day 1.
Meet my @pivot_cyclesusa training partners while I embark on my biggest week of on bike training (ever).
1️⃣ My Mach 4 Carbon is my go to mtb machine for longer single track rides
2️⃣ My Les 27.5 is my uphill rocket ship when I want long off road adventures with mixed gravel and techy single track.
3️⃣ My Vault is my go to tool for all road and gravel adventures.
4️⃣ My @wahoofitnessofficial ELEMNT Bolt will do all the recording of the data, because if it’s not recorded we all know it didn’t happen.
Stay tuned for my race machine, coming soon!

👆🏼 smiles for miles to be working with @wahoofitnessofficial this year! Myself and the @pivotmaxxis team will be running the ELEMNT Bolt And TICKR heart rate strap, and I couldn’t be more excited!
Last Fall I ditched my previous GPS unit to try the ELEMNT and instantly fell 🥰 with the unit, and knew I wanted to work with the company. Everything is set up via the app on your phone and takes less than 5 minutes to personalize. The app is amazing for post ride and race data geek out sessions, plus I use the fitness app for all my gym workouts too!
The ELEMNT Bolt is beautifully streamlined and nests into its own personal mount, and is @blue_eyed_nugget approved.

Workout Wednesday = modified.
The good news is, the radiologist who read my X-ray first wasn’t the brightest and my coccyx is NOT broken, but I’m still quite sore and taking the week off the bike and any serious exercise to let my body recover from the crash.
Through injury I’ve learned it’s good to keep moving for blood flow, but work within your capabilities and don’t push something you can’t tolerate.
Today included a flat 2 mile walk along the water + some simple PT exercises that don’t bother (too much) the sacrum, coccyx, or glute, here is a glimpse at today. Are these going to make me strong? Nope, but they’re going to keep those little muscles active, which is all I can ask for right now.
Exercise is the key to life. Don’t let injury stop you from moving, just learn what you can and cannot do while you’re recovering.
